This was so fun to read. Your family story is delightful and beautiful and the photos following it were a special cherry on top. I absolutely adore this news thread and can’t wait for more ❤️

Thank you! Even if I have nothing else to share, I always have favorite photos from the week. Those little bug eyes are always calling to me. I’m so intrigued by the Molokans (all of my ancestors really), I wish I could go back and meet them all. I wish I could go along each family line and just see them in their worlds, doing their things.

Your family history is so fascinating, and what an incredible photo of your great grandparents. It's so incredible to think about how our families arrived in this country and what history happened to shape who we are. I'm so glad my photos have inspired you to share more of yours—what a treat for everyone! Your photography is magical. I didn't know someone could make grasshoppers look so beautiful. The muted colors of the dahlia show off the incredible shapes. All the animals made me smile, but particularly the toad. Oh, and that jumping spider! I'm excited I'll get to see more of the world through your eyes.

I loved the story of your ancesters which I never knew. But, I did know your name was Russian. I, also, loved the great photography. I have heard that many people from other countries fled to America due to religious persecution. My great-grandparents came here in the 1800's from Germany but I don't know the specific reeason they left Germany. Our ancestry is fascinating. I think you know that Kim LOVED ancestry.com and for many years.

I absolutely love the process of discovering the stories of the people before us, it’s just fascinating to dive down that hole and discover these little hidden gems. I love printing out the census reports from Ancestry, stacking them in order and seeing the facts of their lives in that moment. I actually wished Kim and I had talked more about this! I would have invited her on an “ancestry” date, we could have both worked on our research but hung out in real time while we did it.
